Jesus speaks clearly to a situation that we can understand those who cheat will find ways to make their cheating profitable. This goes on every day in our own society and perhaps even among people that we know. We can easily begin to ignore cheating when it happens among people that we love or care for. Perhaps even more disastrously, we can find ourselves cheating in little ways. Today’s question to us is very simple: what kind of a steward am I with all that has been given to me? It is not just a question about the ways that I handle money or material possessions, but a question about who I am and how I live. So often we are invited by our Lord Jesus to have wisdom in the way we live. Wisdom is about recognizing the effects of the choices that we make and the actions that we perform each day. Jesus can see in the steward of today’s Gospel story a cunning about living. That cunning will help the steward in the short run. Jesus wants us to have that same cunning with regard to spiritual reality: we need to recognize what will truly help us live and then have the courage to do it. Let us pray today for this gift of spiritual wisdom. Let us ask the Holy Spirit to show us the way to life! www.christdesert.org
 

En el Evangelio de hoy Jesús habla claramente sobre una situación que podemos comprender: quienes engañan encontrarán maneras de rentabilizar su engaño. Esto sucede a diario en nuestra sociedad, e incluso entre conocidos. Podemos empezar a ignorar fácilmente el engaño cuando ocurre entre personas que amamos o apreciamos. Y, lo que es aún más desastroso, podemos descubrirnos engañando en pequeñas cosas. La pregunta de hoy es muy sencilla: ¿qué clase de administrador soy con todo lo que se me ha dado? No se trata solo de cómo manejo el dinero o las posesiones materiales, sino de quién soy y cómo vivo. Nuestro Señor Jesús nos invita con frecuencia a vivir con sabiduría. La sabiduría consiste en reconocer las consecuencias de nuestras decisiones y acciones cotidianas. Jesús ve en el administrador del Evangelio de hoy una astucia para vivir. Esa astucia le ayudará a corto plazo. Jesús quiere que tengamos esa misma astucia con respecto a la realidad espiritual: necesitamos reconocer lo que realmente nos ayudará a vivir y tener la valentía de hacerlo.
