Let God’s Peace and Justice Flourish through your Lives

               In this season of Advent, the church presents John the Baptist to us as a model. John teaches us that waiting for the coming of Christ is not merely a joyful expectation—it is also careful preparation. It requires a commitment to making the world more just for everyone. It involves fearlessly challenging the structures of sin and oppression. Often, it means standing courageously against abusive power, protesting if necessary. Most importantly, it demands that our lives, at every moment, embody the fullness of the gospel of Christ, especially its emphasis on love, justice, mercy, and peace. As in John the Baptist’s time, our world today faces a myriad of challenges. Many parts of the world are experiencing violent crises. Numerous people continue to live under repressive regimes and inhuman conditions. We must never forget that we are the hands, feet, and voice of Jesus to a world desperately in need of peace, justice, and mercy. The good news is not just the imminence of justice and peace, but that it is through our lives and ministry that the justice and peace of God will flourish. www.uscatholic.org

Que la Paz y la Justicia de Dios florezcan en sus Vidas

                  En este tiempo de Adviento, la iglesia nos presenta a Juan el Bautista como modelo. Juan nos enseña que esperar la venida de Cristo no es solo una expectativa gozosa, sino también una preparación cuidadosa. Requiere el compromiso de hacer un mundo más justo para todos. Implica desafiar sin miedo las estructuras del pecado y la opresión. A menudo, significa oponerse con valentía al poder abusivo, protestando si es necesario. Y lo más importante, exige que nuestras vidas, en todo momento, encarnen la plenitud del evangelio de Cristo, especialmente su énfasis en el amor, la justicia, la misericordia y la paz. Al igual que en tiempos de Juan el Bautista, nuestro mundo actual enfrenta innumerables desafíos. Muchas partes del mundo experimentan crisis violentas. Numerosas personas continúan viviendo bajo regímenes represivos y condiciones inhumanas. Nunca debemos olvidar que somos las manos, los pies y la voz de Jesús en un mundo que necesita desesperadamente paz, justicia y misericordia. La buena noticia no es sólo la inminencia de la justicia y la paz, sino que es a través de nuestras vidas y ministerio que la justicia y la paz de Dios florecerán.
