The Light You Lit in My Life Still Burns
Jesus in the gospel begins his public ministry and faces opposition and rejection. Here, we find an all too human reality—the failure to clearly see the presence of God in others, the failure to recognize what God is doing in our lives, and the failure to see how God reveals the face of God’s son in the sufferings and pains of our brothers and sisters. Just like the crowd in the synagogue, sometimes we fail to recognize Jesus in the poor and we fail to see the great miracle that God is doing in our lives by keeping us going to this day in spite of ourselves. We must realize that the most fundamental vocation and purpose of our lives as Christians is to love. However, love without sacrifice is empty, and love without pain is vain. Mother Teresa once said that humanity has cured so many incurable diseases, but one disease that afflicts humanity today is that there are many of our brothers and sisters who feel unwanted and unloved. May each and every one of us become God’s light and hand in the world to touch a wounded soul and heal a broken heart through acts of kindness that flows from a deep place. www.uscatholic.org
La Luz que Encendiste En Mi Vida Aún Arde
En el Evangelio, Jesús comienza su ministerio público y se enfrenta a la oposición y al rechazo. Aquí encontramos una realidad demasiado humana: la incapacidad de ver claramente la presencia de Dios en los demás, la incapacidad de reconocer lo que Dios está haciendo en nuestras vidas y la incapacidad de ver cómo Dios revela el rostro de su hijo en los sufrimientos y dolores de nuestros hermanos y hermanas. Al igual que la multitud en la sinagoga, a veces no reconocemos a Jesús en los pobres y no vemos el gran milagro que Dios está haciendo en nuestras vidas al permitirnos seguir adelante hasta el día de hoy a pesar de nosotros mismos. Debemos darnos cuenta de que la vocación y el propósito más fundamentales de nuestras vidas como cristianos es amar. Sin embargo, el amor sin sacrificio es vacío y el amor sin dolor es vano. La Madre Teresa dijo una vez que la humanidad ha curado muchas enfermedades incurables, pero una enfermedad que aflige a la humanidad hoy en día es que hay muchos de nuestros hermanos y hermanas que se sienten indeseados y no amados. Ojalá que todos y cada uno de nosotros seamos la luz y la mano de Dios en el mundo para tocar un alma herida y sanar un corazón roto a través de actos de bondad que brotan de lo más profundo.
