Like a Tree Planted Near Running Water

                  Today’s scriptures emphasize is that God’s smile rests upon those whose desire is for God, whose longing is for life with God. God promises that this desire will always be satisfied. Interestingly, both the prophet Jeremiah and the psalmist offer us the same image of what life looks like when the object of one’s hope is God. It is like being a tree planted next to a stream.  Droughts will come. Hot winds will blow. But one’s roots remain in contact with fresh, flowing water, and—even in the harshness of the surrounding environment—one can continue to bear fruit.   In our lives, many bad things have happened and are happening. But we can rest assured there is nothing that can happen that will take away the possibility of a life with God. Nothing that can stop our lives from bearing fruit whatever the circumstances.  www.uscatholic.org

Como un Árbol Plantado Junto a un Río

                  Las escrituras de hoy enfatizan que la sonrisa de Dios descansa sobre aquellos cuyo deseo es para Dios, cuyo anhelo es la vida con Dios. Dios promete que este deseo siempre será satisfecho. Curiosamente, tanto el profeta   Jeremías como el salmista nos ofrecen la misma imagen de cómo es la vida cuando el objeto de nuestra esperanza es Dios. Es como ser un árbol plantado junto a un arroyo. Vendrán sequías. Soplarán vientos cálidos. Pero nuestras raíces permanecen en contacto con agua fresca y corriente, e incluso en la dureza del entorno circundante, uno puede seguir dando fruto. En nuestras vidas, muchas cosas malas han sucedido y están sucediendo. Pero podemos estar seguros de que no hay nada que pueda suceder que nos quite la posibilidad de una vida con Dios.
