We thank God for sending us his peace and the Holy Spirit!
Today, Jesus says, “You heard me say to you, ‘I am going away, and I am coming to you.” Were the disciples joyful and at peace when Jesus told them about his departure? Probably not! They ignored what Jesus had taught them about his suffering, death, resurrection and eternal life. Instead, they competed among themselves to see who would be the greatest in Jesus’ potential earthly kingdom. Their focus was not on Jesus but on themselves, even though Jesus promised them His peace when he said, “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you!” Today, likewise, Jesus is also promising us his peace. But are we able to keep his peace in our heart? Probably, we focus too much on ourselves, especially on money, fame, power, beauty, and health. Some of us may even have asked, “I go to church every Sunday and I pray all the time to have peace. How come I still do not have peace in my heart?” Today, Jesus invites us to receive the Holy Spirit! Most of us, instead of practicing the fruits of the Holy Spirit at home and at work, have turned our home and our workplace into a war zone, through criticism and violence. www.slmedia.org
¡Damos gracias a Dios por enviarnos su paz y el Espíritu Santo!
Hoy, Jesús dice: «Me oyeron decir: “Me voy y vengo a ustedes”». ¿Estaban los discípulos gozosos y en paz cuando Jesús les anunció su partida? ¡Probablemente no! Ignoraron lo que Jesús les había enseñado sobre su sufrimiento, muerte, resurrección y vida eterna. En cambio, compitieron entre ellos para ver quién sería el más grande en el potencial reino terrenal de Jesús. Su enfoque no estaba en Jesús, sino en sí mismos, a pesar de que Jesús les prometió su paz cuando dijo: «¡La paz les dejo, mi paz les doy!». Hoy, de igual manera, Jesús también nos promete su paz. Pero ¿somos capaces de mantener su paz en nuestro corazón? Probablemente, nos enfocamos demasiado en nosotros mismos, especialmente en el dinero, la fama, el poder, la belleza y la salud. Algunos de nosotros incluso nos hemos preguntado: «Voy a la iglesia todos los domingos y oro todo el tiempo para tener paz. ¿Cómo es que todavía no tengo paz en mi corazón?». ¡Hoy, Jesús nos invita a recibir el Espíritu Santo! La mayoría de nosotros, en lugar de practicar los frutos del Espíritu Santo en casa y en el trabajo, hemos convertido nuestro hogar y nuestro lugar de trabajo en una zona de guerra, a través de la crítica y la violencia.
