Parting is Such Sweet Sorrow
As we mark and celebrate the Ascension of the Lord, the saying, ‘all good things come to an end’ never sounded more suitable and appropriate. In last Sunday’s gospel, Jesus told his followers that he would give them another Advocate to be with them forever, the Spirit of truth. Before Jesus takes his leave of them, he passes on and entrusts them with the responsibility of carrying on his mission of proclaiming the good news of the gospel and of establishing the kingdom of God. This ordinary group of men and women are the ones who were chosen by Jesus to be the heralds and witnesses of the resurrection. Through their words and actions, the world will know that Jesus is alive and more alive and present that ever he was. It is now up to each of each of us in our way to carry on the mission and ministry of Jesus. Through us today, the world will know that Jesus is alive, present and active in our world. Even though we are celebrating the Ascension of Jesus, he has not left, deserted or abandoned us. He is with is when we gather break bread with each other. He is with us when reach out to help and support each other. These are the signs that Jesus is in us and with us, today and forever. www.oblates.ie
La despedida es un dolor tan dulce
Hoy celebramos la Ascensión del Señor, el dicho “todo lo bueno llega a su fin” nunca sonó más adecuado y apropiado. En el evangelio del domingo pasado, Jesús dijo a sus discípulos que les enviaría otro Abogado para que estuviera con ellos para siempre: el Espíritu de verdad. Antes de despedirse de ellos, Jesús pasa y les confía la responsabilidad de llevar a cabo su misión de proclamar la buena nueva del evangelio y establecer el reino de Dios. Este grupo ordinario de hombres y mujeres son los que fueron elegidos por Jesús para ser heraldos y testigos de la resurrección. A través de sus palabras y acciones, el mundo sabrá que Jesús está vivo y más vivo y presente que nunca. Ahora depende de cada uno de nosotros llevar a cabo la misión y el ministerio de Jesús. A través de nosotros hoy, el mundo sabrá que Jesús está vivo, presente y activo en nuestro mundo. Aunque estemos celebrando la Ascensión de Jesús, él no nos ha dejado, abandonado ni abandonado. Él está con nosotros cuando nos reunimos para partir el pan unos con otros. Él está con nosotros cuando nos acercamos para ayudarnos y apoyarnos unos a otros.
