Lord Jesus, your Kingdom come!

               Today, the last Sunday of the Church year, we celebrate the Feast of Christ the King. It is one of the most beautiful and meaningful feasts of the year. The concept of king and kingdom is at the very heart of Jesus’ message to us. He came to inaugurate among us the Kingdom of God. By this we understand that complex of people and communities which have totally accepted and assimilated the vision of life under God which Jesus proclaimed. It is a vision, not only for a minority sect among the peoples of the world, but a call that is valid for all, a message which contains the deepest hopes and longings of peoples everywhere. Our King has been chosen for us by God, but it is for each one of us to profess our allegiance to him. We do this, not just by saying it in so many words, but by taking on board the fullness of his life and teaching which we find in the Gospels and in the rest of the New Testament. And as members of his Body, we too—in some strange way—share in that Kingship. Today we are called to work together to expand the reality of his Kingdom in our families, in our society and in the world generally. Lord Jesus, your Kingdom come! www.livingspace.sacredspace.ie

                  ¡Venga tu Reino, Señor Jesús!

                  Hoy, último domingo del año litúrgico, celebramos la Fiesta de Cristo Rey. Es una de las fiestas más hermosas y significativas del año. El concepto de rey y reino se encuentra en el corazón mismo del mensaje de Jesús. Él vino a inaugurar entre nosotros el Reino de Dios. Con esto entendemos el conjunto de personas y comunidades que han aceptado y asimilado plenamente la visión de la vida bajo la guía de Dios que Jesús proclamó. Es una visión, no solo para una minoría entre los pueblos del mundo, sino un llamado válido para todos, un mensaje que contiene las más profundas esperanzas y anhelos de todos los pueblos. Dios ha elegido a nuestro Rey para nosotros, pero es responsabilidad de cada uno de nosotros profesar nuestra fidelidad a él. Lo hacemos, no solo con palabras, sino asumiendo la plenitud de su vida y enseñanza que encontramos en los Evangelios y en el resto del Nuevo Testamento. Y como miembros de su Cuerpo, también nosotros —de alguna manera— participamos de esa Realeza. Hoy estamos llamados a trabajar juntos para expandir la realidad de su Reino en nuestras familias, en nuestra sociedad y en el mundo entero. ¡Venga tu Reino, Señor Jesús! www.livingspace.sacredspace.ie
