Gratitude to God
In this Sunday’s readings we hear two parables that speak about vineyards. Vineyards were special fields that were very carefully looked after in order to produce the best wine possible. In the gospel, Jesus speaks of a second vineyard that the Father owns. The Father also expects fruit from his vineyard
and sends messengers to collect the produce. When the tenants refuse to give him what they owe, he
sends his only Son to pick up their dues. The Lord’s vineyard is the people of God in the Old Testament, it is us in the New Testament. God looks after us and protects us, expecting us to produce fruit in due season. This fruit is the sign of our gratitude for God’s care and concern. If we refuse to not produce fruit, then we will not be worthy of the vineyard and it will be taken away from us. Gratitude to God is an important element of our spirituality and an important virtue.

Gratitud a Dios
En las lecturas de este domingo escuchamos dos parábolas que hablan de las viñas. Los viñedos eran campos especiales que se cuidaban con mucho cuidado para producir el mejor vino posible. En el Evangelio, Jesús habla de una segunda viña que pertenece al Padre. El Padre también espera fruto de su viña y envía mensajeros para recoger el producto. Cuando los inquilinos se niegan a pagarle lo que deben, envía a su único Hijo a cobrar sus deudas. La viña del Señor es el pueblo de Dios en el Antiguo Testamento, somos nosotros en el Nuevo Testamento. Dios nos cuida y protege, esperando que produzcamos frutos a su debido tiempo. Este fruto es signo de nuestra gratitud por el cuidado y la preocupación de Dios. Si nos negamos a no producir fruto, entonces no seremos dignos de la viña y nos la quitarán. La gratitud a Dios es un elemento importante de nuestra espiritualidad y una virtud importante.
