All are Invited, All are Welcome
In Today’s gospel the image and symbol of the meal and banquet are used to let us know how generous God is. The table is set and the food is ready. However, those invited gave various excuses why they could not go to the feast. In response, the king invited and welcomed strangers, good and bad alike. They were the ones who enjoyed the food and wine. Jesus calls us by our name and invites us to come to the feast. It is up to us whether or not we accept this invitation. We are all invited personally to the table of the Lord. When we gather to celebrate the Eucharist Jesus is the host and we are his guests. We come as we are, not how we would like to be. The Eucharist is offered to us freely and we are invited to respond freely. It is God’s gift to us and no one is to be excluded. As Pope Francis reminds us, ‘the Eucharist is not a prize for the perfect but a powerful medicine and nourishment for the weak… the church is a place for everyone, with all their problems”

Todos Están Invitados, Todos son Bienvenidos
En el evangelio de hoy se utiliza la imagen y el símbolo de la comida y el banquete para hacernos saber
cuán generoso es Dios. La mesa está puesta y la comida lista. Sin embargo, los invitados dieron diversas excusas por las que no podían asistir a la fiesta. En respuesta, el rey invitó y dio la bienvenida a extraños, tanto buenos como malos. Ellos fueron los que disfrutaron de la comida y el vino. Jesús nos llama por nuestro nombre y nos invita a venir a la fiesta. Depende de nosotros aceptar o no esta invitación. Todos estamos invitados personalmente a la mesa del Señor. Cuando nos reunimos para celebrar la Eucaristía, Jesús es el anfitrión y nosotros somos sus invitados. Venimos como somos, no como nos gustaría ser. La Eucaristía se nos ofrece gratuitamente y estamos invitados a responder libremente. Es un regalo de Dios para nosotros y nadie debe quedar excluido. Como nos recuerda el Papa Francisco, “la Eucaristía no es un premio para los perfectos, sino una poderosa medicina y alimento para los débiles… la Iglesia es un
lugar para todos, con todos sus problemas”.
