The disciples in today’s gospel: Shaken, but together, returning to that long Holy Thursday conversation, reaching to recall every word from their last time together when he was alive. In all that grief and fear and uncertainty, came a call they struggled to understand: “Where I am going, you know the way.” They heard that as a road leading to a place. But he corrected: “I am the way.” Not a map, but a way of living. A way that he had already shown them when he knelt to wash their feet. Later, when the Holy Spirit descended as he promised, everything changed. That last, long conversation made sense. And fear gave way to courage. Every “you” Jesus speaks in today’s text is plural—not one, but all. Not me, but us. They stepped out, together, with urgency. They met the moment and put their lives on the line. They started building a community of living stones, a place where no widow, no poor person was left out. Jesus said, “whoever believes in me will do the works that I do.” How can we do that, in a world still aching for mercy, still marked by conflict, still in urgent need of peacemakers? Los discípulos en el evangelio de hoy estan conmocionados, pero unidos, regresando a aquella larga conversación del Jueves Santo, esforzándose por recordar cada palabra de su último encuentro, cuando él aún vivía. En medio de tanto dolor, miedo e incertidumbre, surgió un llamado que les costó comprender: «Adonde yo voy, ustedes conocen el camino». Ellos interpretaron esas palabras como una senda que conducía a un lugar físico. Pero él los corrigió: «Yo soy el Camino». No un mapa, sino una forma de vivir. Un camino que él ya les había mostrado cuando se arrodilló para lavarles los pies. Más tarde, cuando el Espíritu Santo descendió tal como él había prometido, todo cambió. Aquella última y larga conversación cobró sentido. Y el miedo cedió su lugar a la valentía. Cada «ustedes» que Jesús pronuncia en el texto de hoy es plural: no uno solo, sino todos. No «yo», sino «nosotros». Salieron al encuentro del mundo, unidos y con urgencia. Estuvieron a la altura del momento y pusieron sus vidas en juego. Comenzaron a edificar una comunidad de piedras vivas, un lugar donde ninguna viuda ni ningún pobre quedaba excluido. Jesús dijo: «Todo el que cree en mí hará las obras que yo hago”
