The Manifestation of Jesus Christ
Having celebrated the glory of God that appeared at the birth of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ at Christmas, we celebrate today, on the Solemnity of the Epiphany of the Lord, the manifestation of God’s salvation in Christ for all peoples. The Church gathers in prayer before the God who, “on this day revealed [His] Only Begotten Son to the nations by the guidance of a star,” and we pray that He whom we already know by faith will, in His mercy, bring us to behold and share the beauty of His sublime glory. The prayers and scriptures of this day proclaim the “epiphany” or manifestation of Jesus Christ as the light of all nations. As we come to the last week of the Christmas season, we do well to reflect on the Magi’s journey and the ways in which we have come to know Christ in our life’s journeys. How will we continue to seek for the Lord, and how will we be open to being guided by the light of Christ in this New Year of 2024? As we make our New Year’s resolutions, how will we recommit our lives to Jesus and continue to receive the
gift of salvation gratefully that He brings to us?

Habiendo celebrado la gloria de Dios manifestada en el nacimiento de nuestro Señor y Salvador Jesucristo en Navidad, celebramos hoy, en la Solemnidad de la Epifanía del Señor, la manifestación de la salvación de Dios en Cristo para todos los pueblos. La Iglesia se reúne en oración ante el Dios que, “en
este día reveló [Su] Hijo Unigénito a las naciones bajo la guía de una estrella”, y oramos para que Aquel a quien ya conocemos por la fe, en Su misericordia, nos permita contemplar y compartir la belleza de Su gloria sublime. Las oraciones y escrituras de este día proclaman la manifestación de Jesucristo como la luz de todas las naciones. Al acercarnos a la última semana de la temporada navideña, hacemos bien en reflexionar sobre el viaje de los Reyes Magos y las formas en que hemos llegado a conocer a Cristo en el camino de nuestra vida. ¿Cómo continuaremos buscando al Señor y cómo estaremos abiertos a ser guiados por la luz de Cristo en este Nuevo Año 2024? Al hacer nuestros propósitos de Año Nuevo, ¿cómo volveremos a comprometer nuestras vidas con Jesús y continuaremos recibiendo con gratitud el regalo de la salvación que Él nos trae?
